Here’s a look at what’s happening — just for fun — over the next year.

Original Works Order Forms

Friday, October 18

Today, Original Works order forms come home in Friday folders.

Original Works is a fundraiser we have participated in at Glebe for several years. Your children, along with help from our wonderful art staff, create pieces of artwork that can be transferred to personalized gifts and keepsakes. It is one of our largest fundraisers for Glebe. Our kids are very artistic and creative! And the products arrive just in time for holiday gift giving.

Orders are due no later than Monday, October 28.

Author Visit Orders Due

Friday, October 25

Let’s Welcome Author Ginjer L. Clarke on November 13, 2019!

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade classes will have the opportunity to meet nonfiction children’s author Ginjer L. Clarke on Wednesday, November 13.

Ginjer writes fun, fact-filled nonfiction science books about wild, wonderful animals and places that make learning about nature entertaining and engaging.

During her time with students, Ginjer will read from her books and talk about being an author, how a book gets made, writing tips and exercises, and fascinating facts about some unusual creatures.

If you want to order a book and have it signed by Ginjer, please complete the order form and submit it before TODAY to the Glebe Library.

Field Day 2020

Friday, June 5

One of our favorite days of the year! Field Day is an all-school event in June where students, and in some cases teachers, participate in friendly sporting events throughout the day. Our Field Day coordinator works with the Physical Education staff to coordinate and assist them where needed. Additionally, the PTA provides a lunch for all students and volunteers and solicits a small army of parent volunteers for event.

Learn more about the event and volunteer opportunities on the Field Day details page.

5th Grade Picnic

Tuesday, June 16

5th Grade Picnic

The 5th Grade holds a picnic in Woodlawn Park on their way to promotion rehearsal at Washington-Lee High School. We recruit a 5th Grade parent to coordinate this event, including food, logistics, setup and cleanup.

Our 5th Grade students’ Promotion Ceremony will be on June 17, 2020. Ask your 5th Grade room parents how you can help plan events leading up to that ceremony.
