Book Swap

Wednesday, February 5

Let’s Make a Deal! Join the Annual Book Swap!

The basics: Families send donated books to their student’s classroom during the week leading up to the actual “Swap.” Volunteers collect, count, and sort the donated books, and the classroom with the most donated books wins a prize from the PTA! All children attending the book fair receive tickets to exchange for free books in the Multipurpose Room. There are typically books for all ages, including younger siblings! Please join us and restock your family library.

Learn more about the event and volunteer opportunities on the Book Swap details page.

Multicultural Night

Thursday, February 20

Multicultural Night is a celebration of the diversity and international nature of our community. Students and parents circle the hallways of the school tasting foods, playing games, and learning about different countries while getting their “passports” stamped.

National Bike to School Day

Wednesday, May 6

National Bike to School Day 2020 provides an opportunity for schools across the country to join together to celebrate and to build off of the energy of National Bike Month. In past years, parents have organized groups of kids who walked or biked to school together.

Learn more about the event on the Bike to School Day details page.

Field Day 2020

Friday, June 5

One of our favorite days of the year! Field Day is an all-school event in June where students, and in some cases teachers, participate in friendly sporting events throughout the day. Our Field Day coordinator works with the Physical Education staff to coordinate and assist them where needed. Additionally, the PTA provides a lunch for all students and volunteers and solicits a small army of parent volunteers for event.

Learn more about the event and volunteer opportunities on the Field Day details page.

5th Grade Picnic

Tuesday, June 16

5th Grade Picnic

The 5th Grade holds a picnic in Woodlawn Park on their way to promotion rehearsal at Washington-Lee High School. We recruit a 5th Grade parent to coordinate this event, including food, logistics, setup and cleanup.

Learn more about 5th Grade events on the 5th Grade Rising details page.

5th Grade Promotion

Wednesday, June 17

Our 5th Grade students’ Promotion Ceremony will be on June 17, 2020. Ask your 5th Grade room parents how you can help plan events leading up to that ceremony. Many volunteers will be needed for our end-of-school events. We will post volunteer sign-ups here for the send-off celebrations closer to the event dates.
