UPCOMING EVENTS

May 31-June 7: Online Auction
June 2: Final PTA Meeting of the Year via Zoom

Join Us for the Auction Online!

May 31-June 7

This year’s Glebe Auction will be held online.  Bidding begins at 8PM on Sunday, May 31, and ends at 8PM on Sunday, June 7.  Emails are going out this week with information on how to register for online bidding and access the online catalog.  Just like in prior years, the items you’ve come to know and love, such as Glebe Experiences, Teacher Donations, and Classroom Projects, will be available, alongside donations from our generous community, families, and supporters. Also, we will host a special portion of the online bidding in a live format, with designated live auction items, on Sunday, June 7, beginning at 8PM.

The Golden Raffle Live Auction Ticket is still in effect. For $100, you have the chance to “steal” any item of your choice from the live auction items (see rules and restrictions HERE). Golden Raffle ticket holders are invited to watch the drawing online on Sunday, May 31, at 7:30PM, and have your cell phone and choice ready. You must be available at 7:30 PM to claim your prize! You can still buy Golden Tickets here.

For those who have purchased a drink band to the 2020 Social & Auction, please consider making your drink band purchase a donation; alternatively, you can use your drink band purchase as credit towards a purchase during the online auction, or as a drink band for the 2021 Social & Auction.  Please email [email protected] to confirm your preference.  Refunds are also available.

If you have any questions please feel free to email the Social & Auction Committee here or the PTA here.

APS Updates

Due to the continued school closure, APS will offer a variety of summer learning programs online.  You can find information about what’s being offered and how to enroll your child here.

Last week, APS Interim Superintendent Cintia Johnson released a framework for reopening schools for the 2020-21 school year.  You can view the proposed options here and you can read Ms. Johnson’s letter to the APS community here.  APS has organized a stakeholder task force to help guide the process for distance learning or a hybrid model involving in-person and online instruction.  If you would like to provide input to our representative to the Advisory Council on Instruction, Laura LoGerfo, you can send her an email about what has worked (or not!) about distance learning so far.

The process for community involvement and input will be released in early June; for now, if you have questions, you can email APS Engage.

Arlington County COVID Testing and Resources

Arlington County will host a one-day, free testing site TODAY, May 26 from 10AM-6PM at Barcroft Fitness and Recreation Center, located at 4200 S Four Mile Run Dr.  Testing will be free and does not require an order from a healthcare provider.  Anyone over the age of 2 can come to be tested.  For more information, click here

Arlington County is also operating a drive-up site on Quincy St and a walk-up site on Columbia Pike.  These sites require an appointment and an order.  If you are sick or think you might be having symptoms of COVID-19, you can call 703-228-7999 for more information, or click here to learn more about how to get tested.

Drop-off Locations:

4019 16th Street North (Isabel Simmerman)
1803 N Stafford St  (Amy LaFalce)
4525 20th Place North (Rachel Barish)

Yearbook Orders Are Open!

Online Orders for the Glebe Yearbook are now closed.  However, if you wanted a copy and did not have a chance to order, you can still get one!  Email Alek Sellers to arrange for purchase and socially distant delivery!

Community Giving Updates

Glebe Community Building is an ongoing initiative to help families living within the Glebe School boundary who need extra support during this time. Many families continue to receive assistance, and we still need  donations to purchase grocery store gift cards. We are aiming to raise $2,000 to help 41 families so……

If you can help, this is how :

  • Purchase Safeway grocery gift cards ($10 and $25 preferred) and deliver them to one of the locations listed below.  Please provide your name and email address with the gift cards.
  • Donate to Glebe Community Giving using PayPal to [email protected].  These donations will only be used to purchase Safeway grocery gift cards.

Reminder, this is not managed by the PTA but we support this initiative and will keep you updated weekly.  Thank you to everyone for your support, and spread the word!

For more information, please email [email protected] or call Ellen at 571-348-4418. If you have any questions for the PTA, you can also email [email protected].
