Vol. 29 |  We Are Glebe…no matter what! Edition   |  Mar. 31, 2020

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the school closure, the PTA Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 has been canceled.

We are missing seeing everyone in school, and ask for your patience as the PTA works out options for any planned events through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  Information will be coming soon! We Are Glebe and we will get through this together!

Looking for a way to support families in need during the school closure?

If you’d like to contribute to the Glebe Food Pantry to help purchase food or supplies for Glebe families in need of support during the extended closure, you can bring donations to Restoration Anglican Church, 1815 N Quincy St.  They will be accepting donations on Tuesday, March 31 and Thursday, April 2 from 10am-1pm.  Questions?  Contact us at [email protected]

Despite the extended school closure, the Glebe Yearbook Committee is hard at work to give our kids a great reminder of all the good times we’ve shared this school year.

Real Food for Kids and Bayou Bakery
Launch Free Grab-and-Go Meal Distribution

Dear PTA Friends:
Earlier today, a mother and her child approached our table. “My husband and I work in restaurants and we both just lost our jobs,” she said. She took home three servings of New Orleans’ style red beans and rice and a bag of fresh fruit – a warm, healthy and delicious plant-based meal for the three members of her family.
Our community is facing a monumental challenge to maintain families’ food access and stave off widespread hunger. To complement other community efforts, Real Food for Kids launched an initiative this week in partnership with Bayou Bakery’s Chef David Guas and Fruitful Planet to feed children and families in need.
In our first three days we distributed nearly 300 meals from Bayou Bakery, with another 100 family-sized portions donated to a local food bank. This project has been featured on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and the Washington Post.
We will continue serving hot, healthy, plant-based meals as long as possible. We are working with Chef David’s trained staff to maintain the utmost safety standards with heightened precautions to keep everyone safe.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please help us get the word out to families in need. Meals are available Monday-Friday, 11:00 am-1:00 pm. No questions asked. Details below.
In addition, your financial support can keep this effort going. Real Food for Kids is funding the food, supplies, and labor for the effort at Bayou Bakery. And we’re hoping to expand this effort in coming days in response to this incredible and growing need. Your donation will directly help a family in need.
Wishing you and your family good health and peace in this turbulent time.
