Annual Auction & Social 2019

The Glebe Elementary School PTA Spring Social & Auction funds more than 70% of the activities and projects by the Glebe PTA. It is our most important fundraiser.

More than 300 Glebe parents, staff, teachers, and administrators attend the auction and enjoy food and drinks, volunteer created and made decorations, music and entertainment, and, of course, wonderful shopping for experiences, arts and sporting tickets, classes, kids activities, household items, services, and more. More than 3-dozen Glebe parents volunteer to make the Social & Auction a success, and many more donate. Almost all of our teachers, staff, and administration donate their time and resources to the auction.

ADMISSION IS FREE but this is an ADULTS ONLY EVENT (reserve a sitter now). Non-alcoholic drinks, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and desserts are included for FREE to everyone at the party; we recommend you register (no fee required) in advance to speed your way in to the festivities.

Where Do Auction Proceeds Go?

Funds raised go to PTA activities and events:

  • Classroom Manipulatives; Subscriptions; Supplies; & Teacher Awards & Grants;
  • Homework Club & Summer School;
  • Field day; 5th Grade Graduation; Multicultural Night; Soccer Fiesta;
  • Glebe Community Nourishment/Food Pantry;
  • Enrichment Scholarships;
  • Playground improvements and the Walking Path.


Family Donations

We are grateful for the past participation of our families and hope that we can count on your generous support this year. Families contribute in several ways:

SPONSOR the Festivities with a Family Monetary Donation: Family monetary donations are leveraged together to purchase big tickets items, experiences, and gift certificates from various vendors, to round out prize packages, and defray auction expenses.

DONATE a Specific Item, Experience or Service: We receive donations of vacation home time, tickets to sporting events and concerts, gift certificates for special experiences, professional services…

HOST a party for the Glebe Community: Our most popular auction items are the Glebe parties. Families join together to host amazing theme parties and dinners and activities. PLEASE consider hosting a special social event as part of the auction!

Business Donations

Local and even national businesses contribute generously every year. We contact previous donors every year, and we are always looking for new ones.  In addition, please feel free to contact us about business donation and sponsorship opportunities. We appreciate your support and sponsorship opportunities.

Last year, about 15% of families at Glebe contributed volunteer time to the auction in some way, and many others contributed financially to fund the purchase of items for sale and to host the event. Thank you for your support of education at Glebe!

Auction Catalog: What’s for sale at the auction?

Check out the 2018 Glebe Auction Catalog for the kind of goodies that are usually offered. There’s so much amazing stuff for sale and these proceeds directly benefit our kids’ hands-on learning opportunities at Glebe.


Purchase a $100 raffle ticket for the opportunity to win a live auction item, including vacations, parties, and “priceless” experiences such as our newest Principal/Vice Principal experience package (prize is the winner’s choice of any Live Auction Item valued under $5,500, and excludes the Washington Nationals Experience).

The winner gets to choose which prize they want before the auctioneer starts the Live Auction bidding. You will be the envy of everyone at the auction as you survey the items and choose your BIG PRIZE.

The Student/Teacher raffle is the kids chance to participate in the auction fun! Each child receives one raffle ticket provided by the PTA, and can purchase additional tickets for .25 cents ($1.00 for teacher raffle).

Popular raffle items include outdoor games, sports themed items, electronic and video games, gift cards, and any current “hot” items, including items that teachers may want to win/bid on.

Got extra Christmas Gifts? Or duplicate Birthday gifts?  Please consider re-gifting unopened, unused gifts, toys, electronics, gift certificates…to the 2019 Glebe Elementary Social & Auction (please nothing used).
