The Glebe Elementary School PTA Spring Auction & Social funds more than 70% of the activities and projects by the Glebe PTA. It is our most important fundraiser. In addition, by orchestrating the event, we get to know each other better and build a sense of community spirit.
The Auction & Social is FREE for all to attend – even if you aren’t buying anything. The evening is a special night with delicious food, creative decor, music, entertainment, and of course, wonderful shopping for experiences, arts and sporting tickets, classes, kids activities, household items, services, and more.
This year we are calling all SuperFriends of Glebe to support our school at this epic event!
SAVE THE DATE!
Knights of Columbus, 5115 Little Falls Road, Arlington Virginia
ADMISSION IS FREE for all parents, teachers, and adult members of the Glebe Elementary School community. (Sorry, no kids!) Have you reserved that babysitter yet? (We’re not kidding!)
Auction Registration & Drink Bands
Register your credit card for any auction purchases in advance. You won’t have to stand in line at the beginning or the end of the night. This makes your whole evening so much more fun! (Registration will be required this year to receive a bid number.)
While you register your credit card, buy an optional Drink Band, or two, and you can enjoy adult beverages during the evening including specialty themed cocktails, wine, and beer.
Non-alcoholic drinks, delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts, are included for FREE to everyone at the party.
Drink Band Costs:
- Until April 18: $25
- At the Door: $30

What’s your Super Power?
Your donations help to make the auction a success! We are grateful for the past participation of our families and hope that we can count on your generous support this year. Families contribute in several ways:
SPONSOR the Festivities with a Family Monetary Donation
Family monetary donations are leveraged together to purchase big tickets items, experiences, and gift certificates at discounts from various vendors and to round out prize packages. We also have received family donations to help print catalogs, purchase decor or food, and other items.
If you do not have time to volunteer (although we really hope you might give us even a single hour!), please consider making a monetary donation of any size as a way to participate in the work of putting on our single major fundraiser.
You can give us a monetary donation when you register here. You do not have to attend to contribute.
DONATE a Specific Item, Experience or Service
We receive donations of vacation home time, tickets to sporting events and concerts, gift certificates for special experiences, professional services, and many other items to sell at the auction.
HOST a party for the Glebe Community
Every year, families combine their superpowers to offer amazing parties and activities that are always some of our best auction items. PLEASE consider hosting a special social event as part of the auction!
We are updating our Wish List if you need ideas on what to donate. Please feel free to tell us about your donation ideas if you need a little help or have questions.

Local and even national businesses contribute generously every year. We contact previous donors every year, and we are always looking for new ones.
In addition, please feel free to contact us about business donation and sponsorship opportunities. We appreciate your support and contribution to our kids.

The auction needs an army of new volunteers this year. We need to work on recruitment this September so we can hit the ground running. Even if you can just give three or four hours, please let us know. Contact Auction Chair Liz Newman or social committee lead, Christina Headrick, to get involved. Check out our volunteer signups for auction tasks. Please sign up! THANK YOU!
Last year, about 15% of families at Glebe contributed volunteer time to the auction in some way, and many others contributed financially to fund the purchase of items for sale and to host the event. Thank you for your support of education at Glebe!
Check out all of the fantastic things you’ll be able to buy – while also making a donation to support Glebe!
Auction Catalog: What’s for sale at the auction?
Check out the 2018 Glebe Auction Catalog for some idea of the kind of goodies that are offered. There’s so much amazing stuff for sale and these proceeds directly benefit our kids’ hands-on learning opportunities at Glebe.
Addendum: What else is for sale at the auction?
Yes, there are always some items that miss the early catalog deadlines, but we try to include everything. You can review the annual 2018 Auction Catalog Addendum (to be published).
Bidder Information: How do I bid on an item?
Every family at Glebe receives a Bidder Number for their use bidding on items after they register online. This will be a new thing this year. You will not receive a number until you have registered this year.
The first two hours of the auction are for silent bidding, with timed closings for different sections. The high bids at those closing times take home the prizes. Some prizes allow for multiple winners.
Then the fun begins with our Live Auction! Bid against your friends for about 10-12 top items, which include incredible experiences and vacations.
We are also exploring new ways to bid this year. Stay tuned.
Live Auction Raffle: Buy Your Golden Ticket(s)!
This is your chance to win a vacation stay at a beautiful home on the beach in North Carolina or the Florida Panhandle or in the mountains, for just $100. Or you might walk away with tickets to see Hamilton at the Kennedy Center! Or maybe you will be able to treat your child to be “Principal for the Day” at Glebe.
All Glebe families can purchase a Live Auction Raffle Ticket for $100 each. (The value of many of the Live Auction prizes is $1,000 to $3,000 – or, shall we say, priceless).
We are selling ONLY 75 “Golden Tickets” to the Live Auction Raffle, so get them while they last!
If you have the winning ticket, you will be able to choose one of the Live Auction items as your prize, prior to the start of Live Auction bidding.
You must be present during the Live Auction to win because you need to choose your item before we commence with this portion of the evening’s entertainment.
Our tentative list of Live Auction items this year includes:
- Hamilton tickets (2 tickets in mid Orchestra, great view for a September show)
- Legwarmers concert and party for 20
- Bon Jovi concert tickets
- Principal for Day
- Ride to school in an Arlington Police Cruiser
- Ride to school in a Arlington Fire Department engine
- Outer Banks Oceanfront Condo Vacation for a week
- Asheville Mountain Cabin Vacation for a week
- Panhandle Florida Vacation Home for a Week
And possibly another one or two surprises! We are working on finalizing the catalog for April.
The Student/Teacher raffle is the chance for every Gleber to participate in a kid (and teacher) themed raffle. Each child receives one raffle ticket, and can purchase additional tickets for .25 cents ($1.00 for teacher raffle).
Popular raffle items include outdoor games, sports themed items, electronic and video games, gift cards, and any current “hot” items. This year we would love to raffle off an Alexis Echo dot…hint…hint! Even our Super Hero teachers can participate by trying their luck at teacher friendly items.
Got extra Christmas Gifts? Or duplicate Birthday gifts?
Please consider re-gifting unopened, unused Christmas or birthday gifts, toys, electronics, gift certificates…to the 2018 Glebe Elementary Auction & Social (please nothing used). We all have that one relative who gifts your child the same LEGO set every year. This year, don’t return it! Give it to your auction committee volunteers and we will auction it off at the Student/Teacher raffle during the week of April 16th or at the April 21st auction.
