Holiday Cookies for Staff

Calling all bakers!  Let’s show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them by showering them with holiday cookies.  Please consider baking a batch or two of cookies or other goodies and bringing your treats to the Glebe Elementary School Main Conference Room (first floor near the gym) on December 18thbetween 8 and 9 am.

Our Glebe staff will be able to take home an assortment of goodies in festive containers. We have A LOT of faculty members at Glebe, so we need A LOT of goodies! (We’re hoping for 100 dozen items!)

Lauren Barber will be this year’s event coordinator, making sure that there are enough volunteers and sweet treats. Please contact her if you have any questions.

Author Hena Khan visits April 12th (Order books now)

Author Hena Khan

Glebe students are excited about our upcoming visit by author Hena Khan, who will be presenting to grades K-3 on April 12th in the afternoon. If you would like to purchase books in advance, the order forms are due Friday, March 23.

On her website (, Khan provides some details about herself:

“I’m a Pakistani-American Muslim who was born and raised in Maryland, and enjoy sharing and writing about my culture and religion. I’ve also written about a bunch of other topics, from spies to space travel, that take me out of my reality and on adventures.

“While not quite as thrilling, I’ve had a few adventures of my own, managed to get to some pretty fantastic places on our planet, and met incredible people. I’m slightly obsessed with Spain, ceramic tiles and pottery, food, flamenco, and good coffee. When I’m not cooking up a story, I’m often actually cooking food or baking treats. I also spend time writing and editing for international organizations that work to improve the health and lives of people around the world.”

Order forms should be dropped off at our Glebe Library by Friday, March 23rd. Cash and checks are accepted. The checks should be made payable to “Barstons Child’s Play.”
